Your data stays on your device

Overview
Feedbreak is a screen time awareness app for iOS. It is designed with a fundamental principle: your data belongs to you and stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any of your personal information or usage data.
Data collection
Feedbreak collects zero data from you. Specifically:
No personal information. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any other identifying information. There are no accounts to create.
No usage analytics. We do not track how you use Feedbreak or any other app. We do not use any third-party analytics services such as Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar.
No device identifiers. We do not collect your device ID, IDFA, IP address, or any other device fingerprinting information.
No crash reporting. We do not use third-party crash reporting tools. We rely on Apple's built-in crash reporting through Xcode, which only shares data with us if you opt in via your iPhone's settings.

How your data is stored
All data generated by Feedbreak is stored locally on your iPhone using two mechanisms:
SwiftData — A local SQLite database that stores your session history, daily summaries, mood entries, gratitude journal, and streak records. This database exists only on your device.
UserDefaults (App Group) — Used for live session state, user preferences, and real-time communication between the main app and its extensions (the activity monitor, shield overlay, and widget). This data also exists only on your device.
If you delete the app, all data is permanently erased.

Screen Time and FamilyControls
Feedbreak uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettings) to monitor which apps you use and for how long.
Opaque tokens.Apple's FamilyControls API provides Feedbreak with opaque application tokens — not bundle identifiers or app names. Feedbreak cannot determine which specific apps you are using. It only knows that you selected certain apps for monitoring, and it can track time spent in those apps via Apple's privacy-preserving APIs.
This data is never transmitted off your device.

Notifications
Feedbreak may send you local notifications (reality checks, session banners, doom loop alerts, evening mood check-ins). These are generated entirely on your device using iOS's local notification system. No push notification server is involved. You can disable all notifications at any time in Feedbreak's settings or in iOS Settings.
Third-party services
Feedbreak does not integrate with any third-party services. There are no SDKs, no analytics platforms, no advertising networks, no social media integrations, and no server-side components of any kind.
iCloud and CloudKit
Feedbreak does not currently use iCloud or CloudKit. A future version may optionally sync streak data across your devices via your personal iCloud account. If this feature is added, it will be opt-in and will only use your own iCloud storage — Feedbreak will never have access to your iCloud data.
Children's privacy
Feedbreak does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no data is collected or transmitted, Feedbreak is compliant with COPPA and similar regulations.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Since Feedbreak has no way to contact you (no email, no accounts), we encourage you to review this page periodically.
